MELISSA
KENTUCKY AMBASSADOR

I wanted to become an Ambassador because it wasn’t until after I tried to commit suicide that I realized how many people I had in my corner. I am now in therapy and want to help others, as I seen the pain it caused my family and friends and I want to help prevent that for someone else.
I was lucky, help got to me in time. I do not know who all was there that night, I am thankful they were. I was rushed to the hospital and began reactive measures to keep me alive.

While there, the first thought I remembered was, why did I do this? Even if my kids deserve better, I can’t do that by becoming better, not taking myself from them. I asked for help.

I am sharing my story because I want to help someone else. If you or someone you know needs help, call me, text me, message me. Call the National Suicide Hotline at 988 from any cell phone. Text 988 for help. Call and find the support you need!

Mental health is is not talked about enough. Break the silence, break the barrier! Reach out and get help!

I am 100% better than I have been in an extremely long time. I am happy, healthy and at peace. Please get treatment if you are one of the ones who suffers.

I also want to add that I am an EMT and have seen several attempts of suicide in my line of work.

Thank you again and I look forward to working with IGYSP.
