My husband, Rooster,  and I have a history of military service on both sides of our family, which was the springboard for us starting Operation Horses Heal.  We wanted to serve and support those who have served and their families.  Both sides of our family have been impacted through friends and family member's deaths by suicide. A huge part of our aim in Operation Horses Heal is to build a community so that loneliness and isolation decreases.  Another aim is to decrease stigma in talking about and seeking support.  One of the ways we believe we can do that is by being actively involved in partnerships with projects such as I'm Glad You Stayed.
