Hi there! My name is Marketia, and I’m lucky to have a supportive husband and five children who share my adventurous spirit. I currently work as a 911 dispatcher and I bring a diverse background with me. I’m an Army veteran, a first responder, and a proud mom of children with special needs. Having navigated mental health challenges myself and with my family, my goal is to connect with others and let them know they’re not alone in their struggles. I’m always here and ready to listen. If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to reach out to me anytime.
I decided to become an ambassador for IGYSP when I was looking for more resources about suicide awareness and prevention. In rural Kentucky, there are unique challenges when it comes to mental health to include limited resources. Suicide in my community has increased dramatically recently. Unfortunately, this has affected myself, my children, and others in our community. I want to be part of the solution, reducing stigma and encouraging people to reach out for support. Through education and outreach, I hope to help create a community where mental health is taken seriously, and no one has to struggle alone.
